Marty has lived in Park Ridge for over 50 years. He attended Franklin Elementary School, then Lincoln for middle school before graduating from Maine South High School and attending the University of Iowa, graduating as a Hawkeye in 1994. Marty returned to the 60068 and within two years married his wife Lauren, also a lifelong resident of Park Ridge, and together they have raised their four children in this wonderful community.

Marty has worked in the information services sector selling both software and services to Federate, State and Local Government accounts. Marty has played soccer his whole life recreationally as well as at Maine South and coached all four of his children through many years of involvement with Park Ridge Soccer Club. He was a referee and mentor as well as a member of the Board for many years. In addition to volunteering with youth soccer and basketball, Marty has been involved with Park Ridge Wilderness Scouts and Princesses, St. Paul of the Cross Church, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Lions Club. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, grilling, traveling, fostering dogs from a few local animal shelters and spending time with his family. From 2003-2011 Marty served as a Park Ridge Park District Board Commissioner. During these eight years, he realized the importance of intergovernmental cooperation and the impact of creative problem-solving among the governing bodies of the City.

There are fiduciary savings, increased open dialogue, alignment of goals as well as a unique leadership opportunity when community leaders work together for the benefit of all constituents. One shining example of cooperation includes the moving of the water reservoir from its underground location near the library to the current location at Hinkley, allowing for the redevelopment of the Uptown district.

After the unexpected passing of Dave Schmidt in 2015, Marty was appointed Mayor then elected in 2017 and reelected in 2021. Whether it is economic development, forward-thinking sustainability, respectful and open-minded discussions, innovation of projects and new initiatives – Marty has worked fiercely for all things Park Ridge and continues to be the City’s cheerleader-in-chief! Ryan, Conor, Fiona and Timmy have grown up watching their parents cherish Park Ridge and along with so many others, have worked hard to support and maintain this community as a beautiful, thriving, welcoming place in which to live and to visit.

The Maloneys hope that future citizens and families will benefit from all the 60068 has to offer and continue to work together to make the City an even more remarkable place to enjoy!
